Guides

Steve Miller

Steve is a qualified mountain leader. He established and runs linesonthemap. Originally from England, he's now based in Glasgow and is regularly out and about in the Scottish Highlands. Steve is also an indoor rock climbing instructor and an expedition leader for Outlook Expeditions. He's a member of the Mountain Training Association and the British Mountaineering Council.

Steve’s enthusiasm for trekking, rock climbing and mountaineering has taken him around the world, with a few personal highlights being crossing the Thorung La pass on the Annapurna Circuit in Nepal, summitting Huayna Potosi (6088m) in the Andes, and trekking in the highlands of Sri Lanka.

But there's no place like home and hillwalking in Scotland - whatever the weather! - is definitely Steve's passion. Remote parts of the west coast and the Black Cuillin on the Isle of Skye are personal favourites.

Eve Bradley

Originally from Belfast, Eve moved to Scotland ten years ago and is now happily settled in Ballachulish just south of Fort William. Perfectly situated between Glen Coe, the Ben Nevis massif, the Mamores range and Ardgour means she can spend every free moment hillwalking, climbing, camping and exploring in some of the most spectacular mountain scenery in Scotland.

Eve is a qualified mountain leader, climbing instructor and member of the Mountain Training Association and has a lot of experience guiding groups in the mountains.

With a passion for conservation Eve volunteers regularly to help conserve and improve the mountain environment and is inspired to continually update her knowledge of the flora, fauna, geology, history and culture of the area. She loves undertaking multi-day expeditions and exploring hidden places but is happiest when sharing all this with others.

Please don’t ask her to choose her favourite place in Scotland – it’s just too hard to settle on one! But she would tend to veer west rather than east and north over south!

Summer Mountain Leader award
First Aid trained (BASP Outdoor Emergency First Aid certificate, WEMSI First Responder)

Our ethos

What’s in a name? The name linesonthemap sums up our ethos – an appreciation of the wild, mountainous areas that make Scotland famous.

A line on a map can be anything - a path, a river, a wall, a border. You can cross them or you can follow them, but these lines will always take you somewhere different from where you started. The lines on the map offer the opportunity for a new experience, a new adventure.
